We brought back this our popular Intermediate FishCamp™ in 2018!  Intermediate Camp is for those campers who have previously attended FishCamp™ and are ready to take the next steps towards our Advanced Camp, or for kids who may be new to FishCamp™, but who have a fair amount of previous experience with fly fishing, fly casting, and fly tying.

In Intermediate FishCamp™, we review the basics learned in FishCamp™, then add new concepts, including more work with advanced casting techniques such as the double haul and adding distance to the cast, accuracy and presentation casts, more knots such as the blood knot and nail knot, and advanced fly tying techniques, including spinning deer hair and imitating real insects.

We spend even more time focusing on fishing at Intermediate Camp, learning more advanced fly fishing skills, and improving upon fly tying techniques. Since most of our Intermediate FishCampers are a little older and more experienced with fly fishing already, we’re really able to cater each camper’s individual experience to their personal skill level, teaching new concepts and skills as needed in real-time fishing applications.

Reservations and Rates

The cost of the weekly rate for the Intermediate FishCamp™ package is:
• $895 per camper (limited to 20 campers)

Included in your camper’s stay are all accommodations and meals, as well as the use of the finest fishing tools available (from Rio, Scientific Anglers, Sage, Simms, Galvan, Ross Reels, Scott, Echo, Idyllwilde, Solitude, Montana Fly Company, Umpqua Feather Merchants, FishPond, Angler’s Book Supply, Sierra Stream and Mountain, and The Fly Shop®). Every fly, leader, tippet, rod, reel and drop of fly floatant is included in the package, as well as The Fly Shop's® FishCamp™ Notebook, souvenir cap and T-Shirt.
Items needed for your campers stay are 2 pairs of sunglasses (polarized is best), sleeping bag, pillow, twin fitted sheet for bed, towel and washcloth, bath robe (optional), bag for dirty clothes, rainjacket/windbreaker (brief summer storms are possible), sweatshirt (it is cool in the mornings and evenings), clothes (Plenty of shorts, jeans, T-shirts, socks, underwear, sweatshirt, sweat pants, and PJs), Teva or any kind of sandal or shoe/wading boot that can get wet (no flip-flops for fishing), old pair of shoes or hiking boots, flashlight with extra batteries, sunscreen, bug repellent, toiletry items, camera (the waterproof disposables work great), fishing vest (optional – a fanny pack will be supplied).

Lodging at Intermediate Fishcamp™<

FishCamp™, a destination: FishCamp™ is located in the shadows of Mount Shasta near the town of Weed, California.

Campers stay in our state-of-the-art walled tents on comfortable bunks, with the whispers of the wind amidst the pines lulling them to sleep at night. Healthy, well-rounded meals will be prepared and served in our outdoor kitchen by our professional camp cooks. We also have a great bathhouse, composed of two separate bathrooms complete with flush toilets and plenty of hot water for showers.

Getting to Intermediate Fishcamp™

Antelope Creek Ranch is located on the northeast side of majestic Mt. Shasta.

Note:
The nearest gas and services to Antelope Creek Ranch are at the town of Weed. If you are running low on gas, please be sure to refill in Weed before continuing on Highway 97 towards the ranch.
From Redding:
Travel north on I-5 approximately 70 miles to the community of Weed. Take the Central Weed Blvd/ Highway 97 off ramp (towards Klamath Falls). As you come off of I-5 you will turn right on S. Weed Blvd and go 3/4 mile to the Hwy 97 turn-off for Klamath Falls. Turn right on Hwy 97 and travel north and east 28 miles to the Tennant/Bray Road turn-off.

Turn right and proceed 12 miles to the ranch entrance, located just after you cross over Antelope Creek and before you reach the town of Tennant. There is a stone entranceway with a sign that reads, "Antelope Creek Ranch".

Turn right in to the ranch (Please close the gate behind you) and drive ¾ mile on a gravel road. Please drive slowly to minimize dust! You will drive past the main lodge on your right, and to the left you should see our log-cabin cookhouse and several large tent-cabins set back in the woods. Travel time is usually an hour and 40 minutes from Redding.

From Reno:
Take Hwy 395 to Susanville. From Susanville take Hwy 44 to its junction with Hwy 89. Turn right or north on Hwy 89 and travel to Mt Shasta and I-5. This will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Turn right onto I-5, proceed to Weed and follow the directions for From Redding. Total travel time will be approximately 4 hours and 40 minutes.

From the Burney Area:
Get on Hwy 89 and follow the directions shown above. Travel time will be approximately 1 hour & 40 minutes.

From Oregon (I-5 Corridor):
Take I-5 south to Weed. Take the N. Weed exit. The turnoff is marked by freeway signs showing Hwy 97 and Klamath Lake. Proceed to the Hwy 97 turn off and then follow the directions outlined in From Redding.

From Oregon (Hwy. 97 Corridor):
Take Hwy 97 south to the Bray/Tennant road. It will be approximately 46 miles south of Klamath Falls, Oregon. When you pass through the community of Macdoel you will be about 14 miles from the turn-off. Mount Hebron Summit is just north of the turn-off. Take the Bray/Tennant road and proceed some 12 miles to the ranch entrance.

The street address for GPS coordinates is 12516 Tennant Road, Macdoel, Ca., 96058 though the ranch is nowhere near MacDoel and only about a mile from the community of Tennant). Please do not rely solely on GPS devices to get to the ranch, as they do not always provide the most direct routes in rural areas such as Siskiyou County.

The lodge phone is 530-398-4755, and cell phone coverage is very spotty near the ranch; cell phones don't get coverage at Antelope Creek Ranch.

We ask that FishCampers arrive at Antelope Creek Ranch at 11:30 am on the day of arrival. This gives everyone an opportunity to check into their cabins, meet their counselors and fellow campers, then enjoy a tasty barbecue lunch with their families.

Please do not bring radios, CD players, tape recorders, or cell phones (no signal on the ranch). Please do not bring candy or sodas to camp. Any contraband items such as tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons will be confiscated and are subject for dismissal from camp. The Fly Shop® cannot be responsible for any items brought by your child. Parents please do not buy new clothes. Old clothes are better; children can play and do activities in them without worry.
