Colorado sits on the western edge of the great plains and is diverse in geography, including alpine mountains, high plains, desserts with huge sand dunes, and deep canyons. Nicknamed the “The Centennial State”, because it became a state one century after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Colorado encompasses just under 104,00 square miles with an elevation low of 3,300 feet and highest peak at 14,440. Denver, “The Mile High City” is the capital and the most populous city in the state. Colorado is known for high mountain stream trout fly fishing with plenty of room to explore. The famous 26 miles of the Black Canyon stretch on the Gunnison River is hallowed waters in Colorado. For us, Colorado is “Rocky Mountain High”.
