Altitude:
Taylor River Lodge is located at around 8600 feet and some of the fisheries are higher in elevation. High Altitude can affect each individual differently. To combat the effects of high altitude, which can include trouble falling asleep, shortness of breath and nausea, we recommend hydrating regularly and getting adequate rest.
Gratuities:
Gratuities are a personal decision based on services rendered. Tipping the guides and staff is optional but appreciated. Normally, guides are tipped daily as you may have a different guide each day. We recommend that you tip your guide on a daily basis, somewhere in the nature of $75 – $100 per day, per boat/guide (usually shared between two anglers). For the lodge staff, (chefs, housekeeping, wait staff, etc.) we recommend $50 per day per person. You can leave the tip in the form of cash, or add it to your final invoice at the end of your stay. If you have any questions concerning gratuities, please feel free to call or ask the lodge owner for guidelines.
As soon as you have your flight schedule finalized to Colorado, please forward it to us at travel@theflyshop.com, so that we can coordinate your transfer to the lodge. If you are renting a car and driving to the lodge, detailed directions are above.
Credit Cards:
Besides tips for the staff, Taylor River Lodge is a cash free property. All major credit cards are accepted at Taylor River Lodge for purchases in the Gift shop or Spa treatments such as Yoga, Meditation sessions and Massages.
Fishing licenses:
Fishing Licenses are required. You can purchase your Colorado fishing license at the lodge or you can save some time and purchase online in advance of your trip from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Alcohol Policy
All house alcohol is included in your stay at Taylor River Lodge. They have an excellent selection of Colorado craft brews and spirits, as well as your traditional favorites at the lodge bar. We ask that you please do not bring your own alcohol onto the premises, as this does not comply with our liquor license at the property. A bartender will be on duty and available to serve drinks to your party each evening.
Communications:
Taylor River Lodge is located in a steep canyon and cell service is limited depending on your carrier. Most guests that have Verizon are able to get a signal at the lodge, although do not plan on having reliable service during floats or any guided fishing. Wi-Fi is available in all of the building and around the lodge property.
Dining:
Meals at Taylor River Lodge showcase locally-sourced ingredients from the Rocky Mountain’s local farms and purveyors. Tell us your dietary preferences and then their culinary team will create dishes like smoked pulled pork with heirloom grit soufflé and cast-iron chicken with cornbread Panzanella salad with watercress and apple cider jus.
Breakfast includes a variety of breads, fresh fruit, granola and eggs served to you on an individual breakfast board.
Lunch is served at the property or in the field depending on guests’ preference and fishing location for the day.
Every night is a different dining experience with custom dishes provided by the culinary team. A bartender is on hand to create craft cocktails for the whole group. Let us know before hand and the Eleven team will work with each guest to ensure they know your food preferences, allergies, and dietary preferences and restrictions.
Yoga, Meditation and Massages:
Yoga and Meditation classes are offered in private or group sessions for an additional price starting at $165. Swedish and deep tissue massages can be arranged while you are staying at the Lodge starting at $210 for 1 hour. Other specialty massages and therapies can be arranged while you are staying at TRL as well. Please inquire about all of the options available.
Included Summer Activities:
Crested Butte is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream, with endless summer adventures just outside Taylor River Lodge’s doorstep. While the fishing will be the main focus of your trip, it is always nice to have the option to take a day off and explore the other adventures the Lodge provides. It is also a great place for a non-fishing spouse or friend and a great spot for a vacation the whole family can enjoy. Mountaineering – Guides Ridge, Hiking, Mountain Biking, Rafting, Rock Climbing and Stand-up Paddle Boarding are additional activities you can also enjoy during your stay at the Lodge. Please let us know if you would like to participate in any of these activities and we would be happy to help arrange them. They must be booked in advance and are based on availability.
