Garbutt’s Fishing Lodge is a no thrills, family owned & operated, hardcore saltwater fly fishing destination that specializes in hunting permit on the flats of Punta Gorda, east to Sapodilla Cayes, and north to Placencia.

Southern Belize is the unofficial permit fishing capital of the World and the Garbutt Brothers location on Joe Taylor Creek, just north of the coastal village of Punta Gorda allows for quick and easy access to Port of Honduras Marine Reserve where most of the fishing is concentrated.

Although the emphasis of fishing in Southern Belize is on permit, there are other species to pursue including bonefish, tarpon, snook, jacks and barracuda.

The Garbutt Brothers are legendary in Belize with a dawn-to-dark work ethic; what it takes to be successful at locating, hooking and landing permit.

The lodge is purposely kept small, accommodating only six anglers at a time in three guest  cabins.  This allows the Garbutt Family the ability to custom-tailor your trip to your wants and needs and keep it a family affair.

Guest cabins are simple and comfortable, each featuring two beds, private baths, hot showers, cable TV, wireless internet, air-conditioning and a deck with panoramic views overlooking the Caribbean. Meals concentrate on homecooked Belizean fare; traditional family recipes handed down through generations. Expect lots of  fresh seafood, stewed chicken, plantains, beans and rice, pork, vegetables, home made tortillas and key lime pie. You won’t go hungry…

Garbutt’s Fishing Lodge is a family-affair-destination with a lot of heart and a lot of skin in the game. If your saltwater fly fishing focus is on permit, and long days on the water guided by legendary waterman, we don’t know of a better place to consider travelling to and fishing.
