El Pescador, Belize April 23 - 30, 2028

Step onto the white sand flats of Belize to a remote Caribbean paradise where endless turquoise water, untouched flats, and tailing bonefish, permit and cruising tarpon set the stage for one of the best learning environments in the world.

The school is scheduled during their prime time to make sure that the students have the opportunity for multiple targets on the flats.
During this late April time slot you can expect to find excellent fishing conditions (weather permitting). You will see lots of tarpon, 40-100 pounds, and they are more aggressive. Migrating tarpon start coming onto the reef. It's a good month for permit too. Usually large schools of small permit, and as always, plenty of bonefish. Reef fishing is also excellent.

This immersive, hands-on program covers everything from technical casting to tactical fishing skills, including:

• Perfecting the double haul for power and control
• Improving distance and accuracy in real flats conditions
• Off-shoulder and wind casts for challenging situations
• Back cast presentations to reach fish from any angle
• Line management while wading the flats
• Reading water and understanding tides
• Essential flats gear setup and maintenance
• Fly selection and knots every saltwater angler should know
• Hooking, playing, and landing powerful flats species
• Deep dives into the Big Three: Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit:
what they eat, where they live, and what gear you need to find them

You will have a day on the water with one of the experts for 1 one 1 instruction in a real fishing situation as well as the incredible guides at El Pescador. The rest of the week you will be paired up with other like minded anglers with 2 to 1 angler to guide ratio. Each evening, unwind with in-depth discussions, casting tune-ups, and shared insights after a full day on the water with professional English speaking Belizean guides.

This is The Fly Shop’sⓇ Alaska Destination School, custom-crafted for anglers looking to build a strong foundation in fly fishing or improve on the skills they already have while tackling some of the strongest freshwater sportfish straight from the ocean. Conducted by elite local lodge guides, you will get better at both single-hand and two-handed Spey casting techniques in a pristine, low-pressure wilderness environment.

Gold River Lodge - Requa, California 3 day Spey School August 5-8, 2027

The Fly Shop® is excited to offer a 3 Day Spey School on the Klamath River at Gold River Lodge. Chris King, FFI Master and Two Handed Certified Instructor, will lead the instruction that will take you through basic Spey Casting principles to fishing with the two handed rod. Instruction will include Double and Single Spey Casts, Snap T, Snake Roll, and helpful techniques such as the Perry Poke. Also included will be workshops and discussion on Spey Equipment and Applications, Reading Water and Fishing applications.

Each instruction packed lesson builds on the previous session, preparing both beginning and intermediate anglers for just about any Spey fishing situation, from Alaska to Argentina and everything in between.

Expert instructors are on hand to guide students through the course, and our high teacher-student ratio ensures a comfortable and personal atmosphere, with plenty of individual time and attention. An abundance of material is presented during the school and the practice sessions and lessons are presented in a fun and relaxed fashion – on the water.
