Patrick Pendergast - Director of Travel Department
If there were a qualifications list for the job as director of The Fly Shop Travel Department, the resume for that position would read like Pat Pendergast’s biography. He came to The Fly Shop a little more than a dozen years ago in 1996. He first met Mike Michalak, the owner of The Fly Shop, while guiding in Alaska, in 1986.

Family FishCamp™ is working with Alpenview Wilderness Lodge on Kodiak Island in Alaska and El Pescador Lodge in Belize to offer an extension of our acclaimed Family Fishcamp program... in the wilderness!
Alpenview Wilderness Lodge is located on the south arm of Ugak Bay on a remote part of Kodiak Island. The mid-summer dates that we have available to us are perfect for family travel plans, and provide some great fly fishing opportunities for a variety of different species in both fresh and salt water.
Using a variety of sea-worthy watercraft, Dave Jones and his team of top-notch guides access tidal estuaries and creeks that are teeming with chum salmon, pink salmon, sockey salmon, and even some dolly varden. There are even some great saltwater fly fishing options for rockfish and halibut. And, you never know when a chrome-bright king salmon, coho salmon, or steelhead might swim by.
Every day at Alpenview Wilderness Lodge is filled with fishing the diversity of the great Alaskan wilds. At the end of each action-packed day, guests will return to the lodge where the guides and instructors will conduct casting clinics and workshops on some of the tactics and techniques utilized for fly fishing in Alaska. Meals are served overlooking the bay, and then the vices will come out and the whole family can sit down and tie flies under the tutelage of capable instructors.
The atmosphere at Advanced Alaska Family FishCamp™, as with all of our Family Camps, is based on a wholesome family experience. In addition to the fantastic fly fishing options, Alpenview offers some great family oriented non-angling activities as well, including wilderness sightseeing, kayaking, arts and crafts, and hiking.
Whole families arrive with smiles painted on their faces and sleeping bags in hand with the anticipation of fish.
