A guided day fly fishing
one of our local lakes.
Guided trips to our local lakes typically
begin by meeting the guide at The Fly Shop in the morning.
Depending on the time of year, we vary the meet times to put you
on the water during the most productive times of the day.
Over the years, our guides have worked out
an effective system to get you on the water during the most
productive times of the day based on the time of year and the different
hatches. Our guides guarantee at least eight or nine hours on the
water. During the winter and spring, the guides typically meet at
The Fly Shop in the morning. Since there is no need to shuttle cars
or boat trailers on stillwater trips, you’re on the water
and fishing as soon as your guide can get the boat in the water.
Most of the best hatches on these lakes
take place in the middle of the day (especially in the cold
winter and spring months), so there’s not a huge rush to be
on the water at first light.
If you are scheduled to meet your guide
anywhere other than at The Fly Shop, please check our general
on-line trip equipment and fly
checklist or give us a call at 800-669-3474 to get the latest
reports and fly suggestions.
It’s best to check in with The Fly
Shop to make sure that you have the right flies prior to your trip.
If you won’t be meeting your guide at The Fly Shop, we can
put a care package of flies together for you and make sure that
you get it for your trip, or we can sign you up for our “Guide
Trip Package Deal”. Just give us a call, and we’ll do
everything we can to guarantee your trip is a success.
All of the guided trips with The Fly Shop
are fly fishing and catch-and-release only.
- Lunch is provided on all
our full day trips. If you have any
special dietary needs, you'll need to let us know in advance and,
of course you are free to bring your own food, snacks, or beverages.
- Consider our "Package
Deals" if you are just getting started in the sport,
or won’t have time to swing by The Fly Shop on your way
to the lake. We'll match you up with the correct rod, reel, line,
and all the flies, tippet, leaders, and terminal tackle you'll
need for an extra $50 a day. The only things not included in that
package are licenses.
- Guided fly fishing trips
on local lakes are designed for one or two anglers sharing the
guide and boat for the day. Occasionally, we can accommodate
a 3rd angler (additional $75 fee), but this is generally not recommended.
- Waders are not needed for
guided trips on lakes. Fishing on the lakes is done entirely
from boats.
- Car Shuttles are not necessary.
You will begin and end each day at the lakeside launch site.
- Every angler needs to have
a current California fishing license.
To make a reservation,
please give us a call at 800-669-3474 during business hours
