Trouters Patagonia
Nico Gonzalez Trouters Patagonia
This is the perfect spot for the angler seeking diversity, solitude, and a hard-core South American fly fishing adventure.
WE ’V E F I S H E D with Nico for nearly three decades. He learned his knots at El Saltamontes, apprenticed with the best of the Yankees who brought sophisticated guiding to Chile and parlayed those les- sons into the most popular guide service in Chile.
Nico was among the first native Chilenos to become a full-fledged, hard- core fish bum. He developed into a master guide and has helped pioneer many of the local streams and rivers that are now famous and a part of the Chilean fly fishing lexicon.
Nico’s Trouters Patagonia is an expert team of talented, fly fishing-savvy Chilean guides who know their native streams “like rings on our fingers!” They use top quality 4WD vehicles to get to isolated rivers, and state-of- the-art rafts to float the water too wide and deep to wade.
Their boating skills, personalities, and dawn-to-dark work ethic have made Nico and his guides favorites in the Coyhaique region.
They are able to access a tremendous diversity of waters, from small creeks to large rivers, intimate lagunas to true lakes, all filled with browns and rainbows eager to rise to large dry flies or chase down stripped stream- ers. There is something for everyone here, whether you prefer to walk and wade, float down rivers Western-style, or do a combination of both. These guys know every little out of the way piece of water, in addition to the famous fisheries, and have even secured private access to a handful of very special places to fish. Uniquely, they welcome shorter stays for anglers who don’t have a full week to spend, though it would take weeks to experience all they have to offer!
